Jessie, our blue-healer Shepard spent an hour today with her butt in the air and the rest of her body buried in snow. She tillts her head the way a fox does, listening for the sound a mouse makes under two feet of snow. Then she lower her nose to the surface of the snow and begins a maddening dig. I will walk ahead and when she pops up with a ball of snow on top of her nose and sees that I have moved on down the path she gallops at full speed, smiling like a kid on a swing as she dashes past. We play this game until i lose track of how many times i say, "Find the mouse, wolf-bear."
The sky was so bulging with a crystalline blue today, I almost could make out the molecules in the air. It's becoming clearer with each passing day, that despite the glory, or the fame, or success with money, the weight in gold of what is valuable is expressing love in whatever foam you can. Today, it was taking some extra time for Jessie. Today, it was lifting my face to our star and letting light pulse through me.
